Dear Friends of Bronte
The Bronte Beach area has a long and significant history that has helped shape an important human and physical heritage.
Over the past five years Bronte’s popularity as a place to live has significantly increased the number of new developments, daily challenging its natural and built heritage values. With local knowledge also being lost as people move out of the area or pass away, it is becoming critically important that this local knowledge be captured and preserved.
To this end the Bronte Beach Heritage Society was established and you are invited to consider joining us, to help us ensure Bronte’s historical significance and heritage values may be better appreciated, preserved and promoted for the future.
The KBBC was originally established to provide a community voice for, and input into, Waverley Council’s policy development and planning processes for the Bronte Beach Area. However, there is a need for a broader charter incorporating historical documentation and heritage preservation.
The draft aims of the Bronte Beach Heritage Society are:
§ Collection, preservation and presentation of the historical record of the people and environs of Bronte Beach.
§ To advocate for the preservation and maintenance of the heritage of Bronte Beach and surrounds.
§ The education of young people about the historical significance and heritage values of the Bronte beach area.
§ Participation in policy development and implementation in relation to Bronte Beach heritage issues.
§ The production of high quality publications and other such materials as deemed appropriate about the history and heritage of the Bronte Beach area.
§ Raising funds through various activities including securing grants, bequests and sales of publications and other materials, to support the various activities of the society.
We extend an invitation to you to join us!
